Images from the Grand Opening of Fontana Park

Yesterday, Fontana Park opened. It's a nice park and a nice milestone for the City. The best part is, the name of the main building there is the Jessie Turner Community Center. I jogged to and from the Park and met up with Teresa along with Ros and Phoenix Wilkins at our new park. The Wilkins live in the neighborhood to the north of the park. It's about a twenty minute jog each way from my house.

Last Run October 25, 2008

Today, Fontana Park opened. I jogged to and from the Park. It's about a twenty minute jog each way from my house. Because I need right knee surgery to repair torn cartilidge, the othro says get a bike or swim.

Running had become my thing since the late 1980's when I was a HS basketball official, but I tore the ACL in the left knee, then known as the Bernard King injury, and had to retire. I rode a stationary bike, ultimately building up to running to rehab the knee, and like Forest Gump, kept on running. Now, sadly, I have to give it up.

A Surprising Letter

Today, I received a letter from the IRS.

This is what it said:

CLOSING NOTICE

Thank you for providing us with the additional information about the issue we recently wrote you about. We are please to tell you that, with your help, we were able to clear up the difference between your records and your payers' records. If you sent us a payment based on our proposed changes, we will refund it to you if you owe no other taxes or have no other debts the law requres us to collect.

If you have already received a notification of a deficiency, you may disregard is. You won't need to file a petition with the United States Tax Court to reconsider the tax you owe. If you have already filed a petition, the Office of the District Counsel will contact you on the final closing of this case.

If you have questions about this notice, please write to us at the address shown above. Include your telephone number and the best time to call you if we need additional information.

Thank you for your cooperation.

That is not your everyday letter from the IRS. And I'm happy to have it.

Cruising From San Diego

Day One of the Cruise on the Carnival Elation.

Walking through the retail section of La Bufadora, a tourist attration in Ciudad Ensenada, Baja California, MX.

Teresa and Gerald's 25th Anniversary Cruise

April, 2008, and we take a 5-day cruise from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas and back, with a stop in Ensenada.

Teresa on our cabin's balcony.
Gerald on the balcony.

Sunset over the Pacific.

The next few pictures are of our stateroom, on the Veranda Deck. Balcony, refrigerator, couch. The only way to cruise.

Some of the ship's amenities.

Docked in Ensenada, we took an excursion to La Bufadora, "The Blowhole."

Leaving Ensenada for a day at sea headed to Cabo San Lucas.

As close as Teresa will get to the golf course, but she was Tigress Brown out there.

The cruise ships dock the harbor in Cabo, and travelers catch a boat to the mainland.

The crystal clear waters of Cabo San Lucas are very impressive. We'll have to return and stay at a resort on the beach.
